01

It was a hot summer morning but as Haley galloped through the fields I loved the feel of her mane against my arms.  The sky was blue and pink and purple, and the sun, well let's just say it was an amazing shade of orange.  As usual my keen eyes always scouted ahead to keep an eye out for any wild life that may startle the horse.  I was delighted when I saw a huge patch of milkweed plants.  It was August; the timing was perfect.

I pulled on the reigns gently to bring Haley to a halt as we entered the milkweed garden.  Slowly, quietly, we moved inward just a bit before stopping.  I waited.  She waited.  I looked for my life's symbol of new beginnings, she looked for tasty morsels of clover.

With soft gentle fluttering, the "new born" monarch butterflies left the safety of the milkweed nursery and danced in the breeze around us. The horse brought a sense of oneness with Mother Nature, and the butterflies teased us by swaying ever so close and then soaring upward again.  Their wings glistened with bits of moisture and they circled around and around.  I followed their path intently, only loosing sight of them when the butterflies passed in front of the sun.

It almost seemed as if for that moment life was in slow motion.  God was there reminding me once again to walk onward with peace in my heart and to dance in the breeze called joy.
